More Information: Extended Reality Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado
The Hackathon also serves as a fundraiser, impacting Extended Reality Program (XRP) at the Children’s Hospital Colorado. The experience brings a sense of normalcy to the patients, through virtual and augmented realities.
Imagine a child, who is confined to his/her room, facing a life-threatening illness, limited in his/her contact with the outside world. One day that child is given the ability to put on a virtual headset, drive a robot down the hall to an elevator. Then, the robot proceeds down to a different floor, and into a room where other patients and a Denver Broncos player sits. From this viewpoint, the child is able to experience being in that room, and the ability to fully participate, as if he/she was able to leave the room and go where the image takes them.
This is just one example of the many benefits of this program. Watch the video to learn more!
